Charge Handing Over Ceremony In a glittering ceremony outgoing president Dr. Prashant Nikhade handed over the charge of president to the incoming president Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar a well-known Physician and outgoing secretary Dr. Sanjay Deotale to incoming secretary Dr. Avinash Wase, consultant Pathologist respectively. This year IMA Nagpur witnessed unanimous elections. Election commission comprising of Dr. D. N. Agrawal, Dr. Y. S. Deshpande and Dr. Anand Kate announced the results on 27-03-10 at the annual general meeting for the term starting from 01-04-11 to 31-03-12. The other office bearers elected un-opposed are Dr. Sanjay Deshpande & Dr. Sunil Bhelekar as Vice- Presidents, Dr. Ramesh Bhede as Hon. Treasurer, Dr. Sanjivani Dharkar & Dr. Ashish Disawal as Hon. Jt. Secretaries respectively. In his address President Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar thanked the IMA leadership, Dr. Ashok Adhao, Dr. Milind Naik, Dr. Kishor Taori, Dr. Y. S. Deshpande and Dr. Anand Kate for reposing faith in him & outlined various projects to be undertaken in his tenure. He gave special emphasis on organizational responsibilities like membership drive and membership in various schemes in IMA like PPS, SSS, MIS etc. He vouched to work for academic excellence of doctors by arranging regular CMEs and also for physical and mental health of doctors. Special efforts will be taken for better Doctor – Patient relationship. Programme ended with vote of thanks by Secretary Dr. Avinash Wase who assured the IMA leadership of taking the great work done by his predecessors to newer heights. The new team was congratulated by Dr. Prakash Deo, Dr. Anil Laddhad, Dr. Krishna Parate, Dr. Harish Chandak, Dr. Ajay Kate, Dr. Subhash Dhawale and Dr. Sanjay Damke.

Indian Medical Association Nagpur br. has glorious past. Established in 1947, IMA Nagpur has many achievements to its credit. Members of this branch have achieved remarkable success in various areas. Many members have headed different national level scientific organizations of the country as Presidents. Many members got State and National level awards in the field of medicine and medico social work. Few members were imparted with highest civilian award of the country i.e. “Padmashree” the hands of Hon’ble President of India. They are Dr. Vikram Marwah, Dr.B.S. Choube & Dr. Vikas Mahatme This branch has given National President to Indian Medical Association Headquarters New Delhi two years ago who has created an everlasting impression due to his devoted and dedicated work. He is Dr. Ashok Adaho, Today I am infront of you as the incoming President of this prestigious organization for the coming year. It’s a moment of great pride and immense pleasure for me. At the same time I am aware of enormous responsibilities which are going to come on me and my team. I.M.A.Youth Festival 2011 - GMC Physio won overall trophy.
I.M.A., Nagpur organised “YOUTH FESTIVAL” on 15th August 2011 at I.M.A.’s J.R. Shaw Auditorium. The Sa Re Ga Ma and Dance Competition for medical college students were the main events. The participating teams were G.M.C. / I.G.G.M.C. / G.D.C / N.K.P. Salve Medical College / VSPM Dental and Physiotherapy College and G.M.C. Physiotherapy College. Initially Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar, IMA President welcomed the audience. The overall championship was won by GMC, Physio. in the Sa Re Ga Ma Pa category individual male 1st prize won by Dr. Anup Baisare GDC and 2nd prize Dr. Abhishekh and Consolation prize was won by Dr. Ravindra Bhagat. In the female category the 1st prize won by Miss. Priyanti Dharmadhikari, VSPM Dental, 2nd prize was won by Miss. Asmita Gole and consolation prize was won by Miss Nikita Pengoria, N.K.P.Salve Inst. Mr. Sunil Waghmare and Mrs. Pande were the judges of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. In the Dance competition 1st prize won by GMC Physio and 2nd prize went to N.K.P. Salve and the consolation prize to VSPM Physio. Mrs. Pratibha Thakre and Mrs. Vaishali Khapre were the judges of Dance Competition. The special emphasis in this program was given on “Patriotism” & “Save the Girl Child”, which is the need of the hour. The exhibition of Posters and Signature & massage Campaign on “Save the Girl Child” were also organized. The Bulletin of IMA “INTIMATE” with the theme of “Save the Girl Child” was released at the hands of Dr. Ashok Adhao, Past National President, IMA. All the members and students took Oath against Female Foeticide, which was prepared by Dr. Y.S. Deshpande, State Coordinator and Ambassador against Sex selection. Dr. Milind Naik, President Elect. IMA, MS, Dr. Anil Laddhad, Vice-President, IMA MS, Dr. Prashant NIkhade, Imm. Past IMA President, Dr. Harish Chandak, were prominently present. The program was attended by Medical students in the large number. Dr. Rajaram Powar, Dean, G.M.C. and Dr. Subrajit Dasgupta, Dean, N.K.P. Salve Inst. of Medical Sciences and Dr. Mrs. Usha Radke, Dean, V.S.P.M. Dental College were present prominently to grace the occasion. Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar, President, Dr. Avinash Wase, Hon. Secretary, Dr. B. K. Sharma, Chairman and Dr. Gouri Arora, Co-Chairman, Dr. Vaishali Khandait, Dr. Warsha Dhawale, Dr. Mukund Ganeriwal, Dr. C.S. IMA, Nagpur joins crusade to fight the corruption
IMA, Nagpur along with National IMA and IMA Maharashtra has extended their wholehearted support to historical movement of public crusade led by Hon’ble Shri. Anna Hazare against corruption. As the agitation is non-political and people from all walks of life are coming self motivated and joining this movement, IMA, Nagpur also joined this movement with commitment to do whatever will be decided by public at large. The budget in public health sector is less than 2%. The corruption further erodes the benefit reaching to the common man. We strongly believe that the corruption in health sector should be non pardonable offence. Around 400 members of IMA, Nagpur assembled at RBI Square on Wednesday the 24th August. 2011 to pray for the health of Legendary Social Worker Shri. Anna Hazare. Members took-out impressive rally shouting slogans in support of Shri Anna Hazare. The members also chanted prayer “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram …..” and wished him good health. The senior doctors met the supporters fasting at the venue since last nine days and enquired about their health and wished them all the best. Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar, President, IMA welcomed all the members. Dr. Milind Naik, President Elect. IMA MS declared support on behalf of IMA Maharashtra State. Dr. Anil Laddhad, Vice-President IMA MS briefed the gathering about ongoing agitation and elaborated on IMA’s stand. Dr. Avinash Wase, Hon. Secretary, IMA, Nagpur thanked all the members for joining in large number and extending their support to this agitation morally and financially. On this occasion Dr. Bhisikar announced the donation of Rs.11,000/- and all other IMA members donated generously. Dr. Ashok Adhao, Past National President of IMA appealed all the members to support the agitation. Dr. G. K. IMA Celebrates Ganesh Festival Team Anesthesia won Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa Continuing the rich tradition of Ganesh Festival Celebration IMA, Nagpur organised musical bonanza in the form of Inter Faculty Sa Re Ga Ma Pa singing competition and various cultural program by kids of IMA members in the form of singing, dance, drawing, handwriting and fancy dress competitions. In the Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa event the well-known doctors of the city from the various specialties like, Medicine, Surgery, Gynecology, Radiology, Pathology, Anesthesia and Ophthalmology took part. They surprised the huge audience by showing their singing talents and made this musical tug of war a closely fought contest. Amongst the team Anesthesia won the 1st prize. Team Radiology and Gynaecology won the 2nd & 3rd prize respectively. In male category 1st, 2nd & 3rd prizes were won by Dr. Vinay Kalikar, Dr. Surendra Gawarle and Dr. Sachin Sadavarte respectively. In female category the 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize went to Dr. Abhiruchi Patki, Dr. Shivangi Jahagirdar and Dr. Anuradha Ridhorkar. A special prize was given to Dr. Sachin Makade for his extraordinary performance. Dr. B.K. Sharma, Dr. Prashant Nimbalkar and Dr. Sameer Jahagirdar anchored the show and kept the audience involved in the event. Well known vocalists Smt. Somesta Zha and Mr. Sunil Waghmare were the judges of Sa-Re-Ga-Ma-Pa. Music was arranged by well-known orchestra group headed by Mr. Pankaj Singh. Dr. Mukund Ganeriwal, Dr. Vaishali Khandait, Dr. Gauri Arora, Dr. Prasad Zode worked hard for the success of this gala event.

IMA organized CME on “Hospital Acquired Infections” Indian Medical Association, Nagpur along with Vidarbha Association of Medical Microbiologist organized a seminar on important aspects of Hospital care which deals with infection occurring to the patients during their stay in the hospital. The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Pradeep Rajderkar, President, Dr. Avinash Wase, Hon. Secretary of IMA and Dr. Meena Mishra, President, VAMM. Dr. Rajderkar welcomed the delegates and described the purpose of the seminar. There were three faculties who enlightened the audience about various aspects of Hospital Acquired Infections. Dr. Kamal Bhutada, Intensivist of Care Hospital, Nagpur, spoke on epidemiology, sources and reasons of acquiring Hospital Acquired Infections. Dr. Yagnesh Thakar, eminent Medical Microbiologist of the city told the delegates the role of microbiology laboratory in detection, surveillance and prevention of organisms responsible for Hospital Acquired Infections. He also informed about newer technology. He also informed about newer technology available for that purpose. Dr. Nikhil Balankhe, noted physician of the city described the treatment modalities of Hospital Acquired Infections and measures to be adopted for prevention and control. As many as 400 doctors from various specialties participated in this seminar. Dr. Sarita Ugemuge, Secretary, VAMM, proposed the formal vote of thanks.
